Her birthday month of September has been selected to celebrate her life, honor her memory, and legacy by holding an annual walk. The walk is called “Karimi Power” since her colleagues and residents recognized her work, willingness, and “Power” to do whatever it took to make sure her patients received the best care possible.

Bio-sketch: Ms. Elizabeth Broyles holds an undergraduate educational degree from Truman State University, a Masters in Education and a Masters in Counseling from the University of Missouri and University of Missouri St. Louis, respectively. She became a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in 1990. After a 30 year career as an educator, 18 of which as a high school counselor, Elizabeth created her own educational consulting business, titled College, Career & Counseling Services. She was selected in 2002 as the Missouri Secondary School Counselor of the year. Mr. Barry Rinderknecht holds an undergraduate degree in Social Sciences from Missouri State University. He earned his Masters from the University of Missouri St. Louis in Educational Administration. Barry ‘s career spanned 33 years, teaching nearly all-secondary courses in Social Studies from government, psychology, crime & law, history and sociology. Barry received a school district Growth Opportunity Grant to travel to Romania to study cultural diversity. In 1991 Elizabeth and Barry became members of the National Better Marriages, a nonprofit, nonsectarian and non-politically affiliated organization. They are currently a National Better Marriages Certified Leader Couple as well as having achieved Advanced Leader Training. They have served as the St. Louis Gateway Chapter Chair Couple and are Dynamic Dialogue Trainers and Prepare and Enrich Trainers. They were featured as the Spotlight Couple and authored an article titled Excess Baggage in the Fall 2012 National magazine “Marriage.” At the 2015 National Better Marriages Conference, the couple received a Special Recognition Award for their local Metro St. Louis leadership and as National Training and Certification Committee members. They live in West St. Louis County, MO, and have been married 30+ years. As a blended family, they have 5 children and many grandchildren.
